The 2021 edition of the Cava Day was held on last 29 October. The event, promoted by the Merceological Category Mining Activities, opened to high school students and teachers some production sites of Bergamo, Lecco and Sondrio areas.
For the 2021 edition the event was held entirely online, and for each of the participating companies, there was a video contribution with a virtual tour of about ten minutes, including an interview with a young employee.
The representatives of the companies involved, connected with the participating schools, presented the individual companies, commented on the video contributions and answered the students’ questions live.
Cava Day is one of Unicalce’s Flagship activities at the communication level, whose aim is to promote Dialogue with the School sector at different levels: it is the opportunity to show how the activity is managed, what the production cycle is, how the tools work, what technology is required to operate in respect of safety and the environment.
Too little is said about this sector and when it is, it generally takes on a negative connotation. In reality, the quarry is responsible for the production of various materials, especially lime, which are part of various production cycles that are essential for the country’s economy.
In order to attract young people to this world, the quarry business and related activities need to be better communicated, so as to include them in the path of innovation needed by the sector. This is why Cava Day has confirmed to be a valuable event for introducing young people to this sector.
