{"id":5999,"date":"2021-12-13T13:01:43","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T13:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unicalce.it\/en\/?p=5999"},"modified":"2021-12-20T09:03:17","modified_gmt":"2021-12-20T09:03:17","slug":"unicalces-applied-research-at-the-service-of-the-steel-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unicalce.it\/en\/2021\/12\/unicalces-applied-research-at-the-service-of-the-steel-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Unicalce&#8217;s applied research at the service of the steel industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"5999\" class=\"elementor elementor-5999\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6710a083 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6710a083\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6a3042f3\" data-id=\"6a3042f3\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57c0e62c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"57c0e62c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The pneumatic lime injection during the electric arc furnace (EAF) process has gained much interest and has become a valuable tool for the steel industry in the last years, due to its greater efficiency compared to traditional lime feeding systems.<\/p><p>An article has been published in the prestigious magazine Steel Research International (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.steel-research.de\"><strong>www.steel-research.de<\/strong><\/a>) highlighting the comparative results obtained with pneumatic lime injection in the EAF steelmaking process compared to the conventional adduction system.<br \/>The study, conducted at Acciaierie di Calvisano (BS), using a new pneumatic lime injection system developed by Unicalce S.p.A. and installed on a 90 t EAF electric arc furnace, allowed to measure through the analysis of more than 1200 heats, the performance obtained by this new technology compared to the traditional practice of lime injection in baskets.<\/p><p>The main advantages, in comparison to the traditional procedure of lime lumps addition within the scrap bucket, can be summarized in raw materials consumption reduction, foaming benefits, operational cost benefits, and improvement in environmental aspects.<\/p><p>The study showed that by adopting the lime injection system, in addition to optimising the specific consumption of raw materials for steel production, it is possible to achieve a significant reduction in the energy consumption required for production.
