Calcium lime is used during the melting process for creating a basic slag that can neutralise acid-forming elements and proceed to the removal of sulphur inclusions.
In addition to the characteristics of basic slag as with calcium lime, the presence of magnesium oxide makes it possible to reach a saturation level in the slag sufficient to make it less aggressive with respect to the refractory mantle.
Calcined dolomitic is an air lime with a strong content of magnesium oxide (approx. 40%) and is used in the fusion process where a strong slag viscosity is needed due to the very high oxidation levels. Calcined dolomitic lime is particularly suitable for improving FOAMING with a consequent increase of the chemical package.
